Working in Paradise-1

I have finally

hit my limit with Facebook. I wanted to post some honest reflection on the tension I am experiencing on a daily basis as I work a full time remote job in paradise. So now I’m on my phone attempting to create this blog spot account…so far so good. Here’s the post I sent only to myself on FB yesterday…

Working in Paradise…documenting the wonder and challenges that co-exist living here while working full time online.  Right now we are just north of Marbella on the Pacific. Woke up at 5:15a as the sun was coming up, to the sounds of howler monkeys in the top of the tree outside our window. Walked down the 20 steps to the beach, welcomed the hermit crabs, pelicans and day with a mediation and then coffee.  Amazing.  I turned on my computer at 7a. Bella, Jason and Aviva shuttled food upstairs at times during the day to my makeshift desk to accommodate my back to back virtual meetings. Bella texted me that the monkeys were back- I missed the text while in meetings. Bella proudly shares with me a pic of a parrot they were finally able to photograph (it’s taken 3 weeks !) Seven zoom calls, 10 hours later, I emerge for a sunset beach walk and (de facto) beach clean up with Charlie and Aviva. Charlie frolics in the river. The sun touches the horizon at 5:30p making a beautiful orange sky. Such a blessing everyday … and the juxtaposition of intensive online work and the Pura Vida at times feels dissonant. Everything around me seems to call out ‘slow down’ ‘notice me’ …
